Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a hydrophobic coating?
“Hydrophobic” means water-fearing. The coating creates an ultra-smooth, transparent shield on the glass that repels water, soap scum, and body oils. Instead of spreading out and drying into “water spots,” the water beads up and rolls off, taking dirt with it.
Does this mean I never have to clean my shower screen again?
While it’s not “self-cleaning,” it reduces your cleaning time by up to 90%. Most of the grime will slide off with the water. For whatever remains, a quick wipe with a damp microfiber cloth is usually enough. You won’t need to scrub or use harsh chemicals anymore.
Will the coating make the glass look blurry or streaky?
Not at all. The coating is optically clear and thinner than a human hair. You won’t see it, feel it, or notice any change in the clarity of your glass. In fact, because it prevents lime-scale buildup, your glass will actually stay looking “brand new” and clearer for much longer.
How long does the treatment last on a shower screen?
In a standard residential shower, a professional application typically lasts between 3 to 5 years. Its lifespan depends on how often the shower is used and the type of cleaning products you use.
Can this be applied to old shower screens with existing stains?
Yes, but the glass must be restored first. We perform a deep-clean to remove existing “glass cancer” (permanent lime-scale etching) before sealing it. If the stains are too deep, we will assess and let you know if a full restoration is possible before applying the coating.
Is the coating resistant to mold and bacteria?
Yes. Because the coating fills the microscopic pores of the glass, there is nowhere for mold, mildew, or bacteria to take root. This makes your bathroom a much more hygienic environment for your family.
What kind of cleaning products should I use after the coating is applied?
You should avoid “scrubbing” cleansers or highly acidic/alkaline chemicals, as they can wear down the coating prematurely. All you need is a mild dish soap or a dedicated pH-neutral glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
Is the coating safe for the environment?
Our coatings are non-toxic once cured. Furthermore, because the treatment allows you to stop using harsh, bleach-heavy bathroom cleaners, it actually helps reduce the amount of harmful chemicals being washed down your drain and into the water system.
